Daniel Thommes (left) and Thomas Fankhauser (right) both finished their PhDs this year and can from now on proudly call themselves Doctor!
During the past five respectively three and a half years I supervised them in cooperation with Qi Wang from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and Christos Grecos (now Central Washington University, USA). The cooperation was very productive and we had a lot of fun together. I look forward to future research projects together with Qi and Christos. Thanks to Qi and Christos for the great work! It has been a real pleasure to work with all of them and Daniel and Tommy can be very proud of themselves (and I am very proud of them, too).
But the adventure is not over yet. We will continue to work together on multiple projects. Daniel is planning his own startup together with Claudia Kutz (one of the Mobile Media course graduates I supervised) based on his PhD project. He already has one customer, the city of Stuttgart and is doing very well. I will act as their startup advisor and partner with this new venture.
Thomas, who will stay in part-time at the HdM, is already working as a freelancer for two startups called Filestage and gerenwa. We will work further closely together at the university and in industry projects. I am very proud of my two former PhD students and wish them all the best for their future! Congratulations again Daniel and Tommy!
